Education has many varieties. lt has different purposes. It differs according to purpose, needs, and field. Some people need technical education. Some need vocational education. Some just study for theoretical knowledge or understanding.
One of type of education is technical education. Technical education is the education that gives special skills in some subjects. It means knowledge for using machines and tools skillfully. This is the age of science and technology. It needs practical education.
Only theoretical education is not sufficient today. Technical education is vital education. If we get only theoretical knowledge, it is just for our moral or character development. We do not get practical knowledge from bookish education or theoretical education.
We need technical education for any practical work successfully. There are some fields of technical education like civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical, information technology, engineering, agriculture, mining, pottery, and the health sector also.
After the industrial revolution in Britain, there came a great revolution In technical skills. The present is the age of machines. Today the produced things with the help of our hands cannot be sufficient for the growing population. Our hands cannot produce large quantities of goods.
The cost of such products is also comparatively higher but production is slower. Many improved machines have been invented due to the progress of science and technology. With the help of such machines, we can manufacture large quantities of goods.
Today, the developed countries in the world have got progress due to technical education. Technical education helps the progress of the country. A country can prosper in every field like agriculture, industry, transport and communications, and others with the help of technical education.
The persons who have technical education are called technicians. Technicians can follow the improved methods and produce better and large quantities of goods in a short time. They can operate machines and manufacture a large number of goods.
They can help to construct bridges, roads, factories, canals, etc. They can drive cars, and fly airplanes. Technicians can help with the progress of each developmental activity. Technicians have a great role in sustainable development in a country.
Technical education makes a nation developed and self-dependent. A country that does not have adequate technicians, has to bring the technicians from other countries and pay a lot of money for them. Our developmental activities will be stopped to the lack of technicians.
Nepal is still an underdeveloped country. There are many unemployed people. They can be good human resources for the nation but because of their lack of technical skills, they are unemployed. There is a need of different kinds of technicians in the fields of agriculture, industry, transport and communication, health, engineering, etc. but a lack of good technicians.
The main reason for this is the lack of technical human resources. There are few technical schools and colleges in our country. There is a need for skillful human resources required for the development of our country. This proves the need and importance of technical education.

प्राविधिक शिक्षा मा निबन्ध
शिक्षामा धेरै विविधताहरू छन्। यसका विभिन्न उद्देश्यहरू छन्। यो उद्देश्य, आवश्यकता, र क्षेत्र अनुसार फरक छ। कतिपयलाई प्राविधिक शिक्षा चाहिन्छ । केहीलाई व्यावसायिक शिक्षा चाहिन्छ। कतिपयले सैद्धान्तिक ज्ञान वा समझको लागि मात्र अध्ययन गर्छन्।
एक प्रकारको शिक्षा भनेको प्राविधिक शिक्षा हो । प्राविधिक शिक्षा भनेको केही विषयमा विशेष सीप दिने शिक्षा हो। यसको अर्थ मेसिन र उपकरणहरू कुशलतापूर्वक प्रयोग गर्ने ज्ञान हो। यो विज्ञान र प्रविधिको युग हो। यसको लागि व्यावहारिक शिक्षा चाहिन्छ।
आज सैद्धान्तिक शिक्षा मात्र पर्याप्त छैन। प्राविधिक शिक्षा अत्यावश्यक शिक्षा हो । यदि हामीले सैद्धान्तिक ज्ञान मात्र प्राप्त गर्छौं भने त्यो हाम्रो नैतिक वा चरित्र विकासको लागि मात्र हो। हामीले किताबी शिक्षा वा सैद्धान्तिक शिक्षाबाट व्यवहारिक ज्ञान पाउँदैनौँ ।
कुनै पनि व्यावहारिक कामलाई सफल बनाउन प्राविधिक शिक्षा चाहिन्छ। सिभिल, मेकानिकल, केमिकल, इलेक्ट्रिकल, सूचना प्रविधि, इन्जिनियरिङ, कृषि, खानी, माटोको भाँडा, स्वास्थ्य क्षेत्र जस्ता प्राविधिक शिक्षाका केही क्षेत्रहरू छन्।
बेलायतमा औद्योगिक क्रान्तिपछि प्राविधिक सीपमा ठूलो क्रान्ति आयो । अहिले मेसिनको युग हो । आज हाम्रो हातले उत्पादित वस्तुहरू बढ्दो जनसंख्याको लागि पर्याप्त हुन सक्दैनन्। हाम्रो हातले ठूलो परिमाणमा सामान उत्पादन गर्न सक्दैन।
त्यस्ता उत्पादनको लागत पनि तुलनात्मक रूपमा बढी छ तर उत्पादन सुस्त छ। विज्ञान र प्रविधिको प्रगतिका कारण धेरै सुधारिएका मेसिनहरू आविष्कार भएका छन्। त्यस्ता मेसिनको सहायताले हामी ठूलो परिमाणमा सामान उत्पादन गर्न सक्छौँ।
आज विश्वका विकसित देशहरूले प्राविधिक शिक्षाका कारण प्रगति गरेका छन् । प्राविधिक शिक्षाले देशको विकासमा टेवा पु¥याउँछ । प्राविधिक शिक्षाको सहयोगमा कृषि, उद्योग, यातायात, सञ्चारलगायत सबै क्षेत्रमा मुलुक समृद्ध हुन सक्छ ।
प्राविधिक शिक्षा भएका व्यक्तिहरूलाई प्राविधिक भनिन्छ। प्राविधिकहरूले सुधारिएको विधिहरू पछ्याउन र छोटो समयमा राम्रो र ठूलो मात्रामा सामानहरू उत्पादन गर्न सक्छन्। तिनीहरू मेशिनहरू सञ्चालन गर्न र ठूलो संख्यामा सामानहरू उत्पादन गर्न सक्छन्।
तिनीहरूले पुलहरू, सडकहरू, कारखानाहरू, नहरहरू, आदि निर्माण गर्न मद्दत गर्न सक्छन्। तिनीहरूले कार चलाउन सक्छन्, र हवाइजहाज उड्न सक्छन्। प्राविधिकहरूले प्रत्येक विकास गतिविधिको प्रगतिमा मद्दत गर्न सक्छन्। देशको दिगो विकासमा प्राविधिकको ठूलो भूमिका हुन्छ ।
प्राविधिक शिक्षाले राष्ट्रलाई विकसित र आत्मनिर्भर बनाउँछ । पर्याप्त प्राविधिक नभएको देशले अन्य देशबाट प्राविधिक ल्याएर धेरै पैसा तिर्नुपर्छ । प्राविधिकको अभावमा हाम्रा विकासका काम रोकिनेछन् ।
नेपाल अझै पनि अल्पविकसित देश हो । धेरै बेरोजगार छन् । उनीहरू राष्ट्रका लागि राम्रो जनशक्ति बन्न सक्छन् तर प्राविधिक सीपको अभावका कारण उनीहरू बेरोजगार छन् । कृषि, उद्योग, यातायात तथा सञ्चार, स्वास्थ्य, इन्जिनियरिङ आदि क्षेत्रमा विभिन्न किसिमका प्राविधिकको आवश्यकता छ तर राम्रा प्राविधिकको अभाव छ ।
यसको मुख्य कारण प्राविधिक जनशक्तिको अभाव हो । हाम्रो देशमा प्राविधिक विद्यालय र कलेजहरू थोरै छन्। हाम्रो देशको विकासका लागि दक्ष जनशक्तिको आवश्यकता छ । यसले प्राविधिक शिक्षाको आवश्यकता र महत्वलाई प्रमाणित गर्छ ।
